The site and the problem
The finished courtyard needed cover for outdoor meals and gatherings. The new structure had to connect to the brick home and its roofline without unnecessarily replacing the paving.

What the client needed
- Add overhead cover to the existing courtyard.
- Provide new foundations at the post positions.
- Reinstate the surrounding brick pavers neatly.
Design and installation approach
Pavers were removed locally where the posts required reinforced concrete footings. After curing, the surrounding pavers were reinstated.
At the house connection, the roof-tile area was prepared for the pergola junction. The polycarbonate roof retains filtered daylight above the paved entertaining area.
The result
The courtyard keeps its familiar brick-paved surface with a new overhead aluminium structure. The project shows the importance of post foundations and the roof junction in a renovation.
