The site and the problem
The open lawn beside the house lacked a sheltered, level surface for furniture. Wind and rain limited its use, and there was no dedicated outdoor dining area.
What the client needed
- Create a level deck for seating and a table.
- Add overhead shelter and adjustable side protection.
- Keep the area connected to the home and garden.
Design and installation approach
The pergola roof defines the entertaining area while its translucent panels admit daylight. Timber decking supplies a usable floor surface beneath it.
Blinds fitted along the exposed sides can be lowered for privacy and additional shelter or raised to restore the garden outlook. Their operation should follow the selected system’s weather limits.
The result
The previously open backyard now has a covered deck with room for seating and dining. The retractable sides allow the household to adjust how open the space feels.
