The site and the problem
The uncovered deck was exposed to sun and rain. The owner wanted overhead shelter that preserved the open backyard outlook and related to the weatherboard house.

What the client needed
- Fit the existing elevated deck.
- Keep the area bright and open-sided.
- Manage runoff from the new roof.
Design and installation approach
The curved roof follows the deck’s usable area without enclosing its sides. Light-transmitting panels retain daylight beneath the canopy.
Integrated drainage channels collect roof water. The roof curve, projection and house connection were planned together around the existing deck and wall.
The result
The timber deck now has overhead cover and a distinct curved roof line. The open sides retain garden views and outdoor circulation.
