The site and the problem
The pergola and deck were already in place, but wind exposure and limited privacy affected everyday use. The owner wanted a focused upgrade instead of a complete enclosure rebuild.
What the client needed
- Retain the existing pergola and deck.
- Add privacy around the entertaining area.
- Keep the screens retractable for an open outlook.
Design and installation approach
The blind openings were measured around the existing pergola. Retractable mesh screens were fitted to give the household control over the sides of the entertaining area.
Lowering the screens changes privacy and exposure; raising them reconnects the deck to the garden. The fabric reference image is a product illustration, not evidence of a project-specific fire or weather rating.
The result
The deck has adjustable screening for dining and gatherings while keeping its original wooden pergola. This project demonstrates an upgrade to an existing structure rather than a replacement build.
